Endermologie weight loss treatment
Endermologie is a specialized weight loss treatment using the Cellu
M6 Keymodule, (a device which uses a small hand-held treatment head with
motorized suction and rollers). Wearing a full-length body stocking, the
suction and rollers work over the entire body, concentrating on problem
areas. Endermologie works by exercising the skin and body’s
connective tissues.
Endermologie breaks down
fibrosis around problem fat cells stimulating efficient
metabolism. Fluid retention and toxin build up is effectively eliminated
through a thorough lymphatic drainage. Collagen and elastin

OK! tested this treatment at Sydney's Body Mechanique - cellulite was noticeably reduced and our road tester lost a total of 6cm from the thighs, waist and butt from twice-weekly sessions.
The lowdown: It's not a newie, but it's a goodie. Developed by those who apparently never get fat (the French), this treatment is based on deep massage to increase blood flow, release toxins and break up the connective tissue that causes dimpling. You slip into a white, full-body leotard, then your trouble zones are kneaded and suctioned by the therapist using a handheld nozzle (think headless vacuum). Post-treatment, you need to drink lots of water to help flush out the dislodged toxins. The result? The fine print: This does hurt a bit, but it's good pain - you know it's working. You'll fork out $120-$150 per session, and of course at least 10 is recommended.

The Test: Endermologie

What is promised: Endermologie is a non-invasive treatment that manipulates the connective tissue, resulting in slimming, toning, cellulite reduction and anti-aging.
Why it appealed: I hoped that primarily it would tone my body and reduce the appearance of cellulite. It would be a nice bonus if I lost weight.
What it involved: Two 45-minute treatments a week for the first month, at Bodymechanique in Sydney's Edgecliff, and then once a week after that ongoing (I had eight treatments in total). Each time, I wore a full-body stocking and lay flat on a bed. Endermologie uses a hand-held treatment head that's moved over the entire body by a consultant, with rollers that lift and roll the skin with controlled suction. For the first few times, the feeling was slightly uncomfortable in certain areas (such as the inner thigh). But from the third treatment on it was actually very enjoyable. After treatments I was very thirsty, having done the equivalent of a workout.
Verdict: I started noticing changes in my body after just the second treatment. After eight treatments my cellulite hasn't disappeared completely but it has definitely reduced significantly. I imagine it could only keep getting better if I kept up the treatments. In total, I lost 5cm from my waist, 1cm from by bum and 3cm from each of my thighs (which no longer touch!).
